My layout in Jenny's Journal-Tales of Brothers Grimm

 HANSEL and GRETEL

I based my layout on the tale of Hansel and Gretel for Jenny's journal. This is a well-known fairy tale of German origin and published in 1812.Hansel and Gretel are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch living deep in the forest in a house constructed of cake and confectionery. The two children escape with their lives by outwitting her.

I started by putting some colour on the page using gelatos and then decided to do a collage spread. The left side being the imagery of the children walking in the forest where Hansel is dropping pebbles on the ground so they could find their way out. And the right hand side being where the children come upon the house made from all kinds of sweets.


I collaged the trees on as well as the images of Hansel and Gretel and in the center of the layout is where they were coming out of the forest finding the witch's cottage.

I tried to make the witch's cottage look child like, for something different, so I used some patterned paper, cut the cottage shape out and they collaged some sweets on the front.

Not forgetting about the witch, the front of the cottage flips down to reveal the wicked witch with the imagery of the flames around her from when Gretel had pushed her into the fire. I drew the face of the witch from an image I found off google, coloured some flames around her head using coloured pencils and printed the title on the flip down side of the house.

Recently I joined a swap at our Australian Art Swap Group on facebook where we had to put together a flow-ish Journal. I absolutely love putting these together as it gives me a chance to use up a lot of papers and items I have been hoarding. A flow-ish journal is based on the Flow magazines and books with the intent that everything inside can be pulled out and used by another person in their own art works or projects. Artist Trading Card Holder- My Island Home

 ATC HOLDERS This is a very fast and easy project. I used my the leftover image pieces from the Sweeping Plains Papers to decorate a few Artist Trading Card Holders. Each made holder can store eight ATC's.The base of the holder is made from cardstock I had in my own supplies and the pockets that hold the ATCs, I made from a manilla folder. The Base Cut your cardstock to 11" x 3". Then score at 2 1/2", 3 1/4", 7" and 7 3/4"/ Fold on score lines. The Pockets Cut your manilla folder to 6" x 4". You will need to cut and make eight pockets. Score with long side up at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2". Then turn once with short side up and score at 1/2". Fold along score lines. Cut the small square off the bottom corner and then cut from 2 3/4 score line to edge, taking off  the long 1/2" panel. Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft Creative Project

Hello Everyone, Today I was still in the mood to play with the wonderful paper from Photo Play and wanted to do a project that was fun, easy and quick. I searched Pinterest for a free downloadable  heart box  template and was quite surprised to find one straight off the bat. What you will need for this cute heart treat box: *a free printable from pinterest *a cropodile *Blazing Red Stazon ink *Photo Play Crazy for you paper *Elements sticker sheet called Wild Love *double sided tape *some thread or twine for decoration *small brads to attach handles *small piece of cheese cloth or fabric  Then I used the template to cut the shape from The Photo Play 'Crazy for you' paper and folded the paper on the marked fold lines and that gave the shape of the heart box.
