February 2019 Calender Page

Image
The prompt for this month was Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose. The piece of art at the top was made from scribbling textas onto a piece of acetate and then sprayed with water and then placed on to the piece of paper making a squishy effect. I used three colours for this technique and did a few layers on top of each other. I also used the pre-printed picture of a butterflly from a stamp, cut it out, coloured it with sharpie markers and gave it a little heat to melt it. Under the butterfly is a piece of recycled packaging. I also used a 'love' stamp someone had sent to me. The borders are done with acrylic paint, a purple and  using the dendritic technique..I think it turned out awesome. Watch the process video here: Thanks for stopping by...xox

Projects from Nina's Group

Image
This year I decided to have a small 'slow down' in my arting...yeah, hasn't really happened yet...lol. I joined a facebook group called Nina Ribenas art journal prompts and more and I have been following along since the start  of January. The prompt for this month was 'WORD' and my first project was my word for the year done into an art journal. I chose the word FUN this year and I certainly could do with some extra fun in my life as we all could.  I really enjoyed putting this page together. The embellishments (flowers and vase)were made from some painted fabric I recently painted. I think it was in the third week Nina suggested we make and decorate our own calendars for next year and I thought this would be a fun idea so I was on the go to make some more art and incorporate it into a calendar. I resized an old 2017 calendar and it was just a good size to have on my desk for next year. Process videos can be seen below of how I got to the finished layo...

PAINTED FABRIC

Image
I had a heap of fun painting on some fabric that I picked up at  our local thrift store. I purchased two large pieces and use one of them to paint on. My plan was to make some art journal covers out of it...and I think it turned out pretty cool in the end. I used norma acrylic paint as I don't plan on wetting or washing the material. The video shows the process of changing a plain piece of fabric into a colourful mess... Once I was happy with the amount of paint and marks put on the fabric, I then made journals and put the fabric on for covers. The left over pieces I cut up into embellishments to use on cards or in journals... Hope you enjoy and paint some fabric for yourself.
