Guest Designer for Seriously Scrapping

Image
Hello Everyone, About a month ago, I was asked by Irene from Seriously Scrapping to be a guest designer for her online zibbet store. Irene sent me two paper packs to be used for junk journalling. So, I decided to make a handbag journal after being inspired to make  one from Climmeys Creative on youtube. I had so much fun making this very pink frilly handbag journal come to life. The base of this is a brown paper bag with handles. I have some process videos up on my youtube channel and the video below is a flip through of the finished project. Hope you enjoyed! xox I had a few papers from Seriously Scrapping left over so I used them in another soft covered junk journal as well as some of my own stash of papers and fabrics. The video below shows you the flip through of the second junk journal I made. Hope you enjoyed! xox

February 2019 Calender Page

Image
The prompt for this month was Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose. The piece of art at the top was made from scribbling textas onto a piece of acetate and then sprayed with water and then placed on to the piece of paper making a squishy effect. I used three colours for this technique and did a few layers on top of each other. I also used the pre-printed picture of a butterflly from a stamp, cut it out, coloured it with sharpie markers and gave it a little heat to melt it. Under the butterfly is a piece of recycled packaging. I also used a 'love' stamp someone had sent to me. The borders are done with acrylic paint, a purple and  using the dendritic technique..I think it turned out awesome. Watch the process video here: Thanks for stopping by...xox

Projects from Nina's Group

Image
This year I decided to have a small 'slow down' in my arting...yeah, hasn't really happened yet...lol. I joined a facebook group called Nina Ribenas art journal prompts and more and I have been following along since the start  of January. The prompt for this month was 'WORD' and my first project was my word for the year done into an art journal. I chose the word FUN this year and I certainly could do with some extra fun in my life as we all could.  I really enjoyed putting this page together. The embellishments (flowers and vase)were made from some painted fabric I recently painted. I think it was in the third week Nina suggested we make and decorate our own calendars for next year and I thought this would be a fun idea so I was on the go to make some more art and incorporate it into a calendar. I resized an old 2017 calendar and it was just a good size to have on my desk for next year. Process videos can be seen below of how I got to the finished layo...

PAINTED FABRIC

Image
I had a heap of fun painting on some fabric that I picked up at  our local thrift store. I purchased two large pieces and use one of them to paint on. My plan was to make some art journal covers out of it...and I think it turned out pretty cool in the end. I used norma acrylic paint as I don't plan on wetting or washing the material. The video shows the process of changing a plain piece of fabric into a colourful mess... Once I was happy with the amount of paint and marks put on the fabric, I then made journals and put the fabric on for covers. The left over pieces I cut up into embellishments to use on cards or in journals... Hope you enjoy and paint some fabric for yourself.

My Layout in Roz Willoughby's Silhouette Journal

Image
One of my favourite themes is the silhouette and I finally had the chance to work in Roz Willoughby's silhouette themed journal. The pages were quite large compared to what I normally work in but I found it rather freeing, imagination wise, to try to fit something large onto the page. After having a good think I decided to put a few smaller shaped silhouettes into the layout and making them integrated by using a window frame. I sketched the shape of the window, cut it out of some photocopy paper and this was the start of my layout. I then copied the frame on to pages, length wise and to add a bit of interest around the outside of the frame, I ended up doing some stamping with a script stamp all the way around the edge. I then proceeded to add colour to the inside parts of the windows. The top section I wanted a full moon, night time scene so I used black and whire to get a haized effect. The middle set of windows I used shades of blue to create an ocean, water type of s...

My Layout in Mermaids and Seahorses

Image
This was a fun little journal to work in. I had no idea where I was going with it until I found some stamps and dies of some cute little seahorses, so that's what I went with. I gessoed the page and then added some blues, purple and a touch of green as the first layer of paint. Trying to get a more 'bubble' feel to the page, I used the square end of a make-up sponge and made some circles and then finished off the background with a smaller bubble stencil using the colours I had previously used. While my background was drying, I stamped a heap of images which I added some watercolour paints too. Then when the images were dry, I then used some clear embossing powder and coated all the images with it. It gave them a lovely shine and also a protective layer. Then I placed all the images of the seahorses, shells, star fish and coral onto the page where I thought they looked good. I added a little shading around the images and also a small saying, "LIVE FULL ...
