Book Box

 Book Box

I kept thinking of handmade projects for the male in your life. Something that could be useful for him. I came up with a 'safe' type of box where he could chuck his keys in after a hard days work, or his spare change. But then, when this project was finished, I thought how cool would it be for him to place something treasured in it that could then be hidden with all the other books in the bookcase.

I like this idea!

I started this project with a cover from a book. I had gutted the inside and used the papers for something else and had the cover left. I used some chipboard to make the box frame for the inside of the book cover. Glued the chipboard to the cover for my box and gave it a paint with gesso, then chose an olive coloured paint for the spine and round the edges of the box and cover. But the main feature of the book box was using the Tim Holtz Dapper Collection as the front and back cover and inside cover. I placed some black felt at the bottom of the box.

To finish off the book box, I added this months title using the grunge and uppercase die sets from Kaisercraft.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this project.
